A timeless classic of dance presented in a performance that merges tradition with experimentation. Drawing on the genius of Igor Stravinsky, choreographer Roberta Ferrara brings to life a reinterpretation of the celebrated work in which the scenes no longer depict the sacrifice of the maiden to the deity, but an utopian community that embraces the principle of equality and harmonious coexistence—ready to sacrifice itself for the common good, a collective act of devotion in the name of shared ideals, a death that prepares the way for an unknown rebirth.
Long fascinated by ritual forms, choreographer Roberta Ferrara perceives within rituality the value of gesture, of time, of care understood as sharing, and of the gathering community. Composer Benedetto Boccuzzi traverses Stravinsky’s score through electronic sound, transposing it into a new, expanded, multidimensional space. This creation gathers primordial energies, visceral forces, and pagan sublimations through a choral choreographic writing reshaped upon the bodies of the ten dancers. A manifesto asserting that one can still believe in the miracle that something wondrous may bloom.
